Mag Ook Niks Meer” (You’re Not Allowed Anything Anymore) emerged—as do all drawings in the LoopySentences series—from a phrase drifting through the air. Heard over and over, on different days, in different voices. It lingers, settles, takes form.
“Mag Ook Niks Meer” – or “Nothing’s allowed anymore”, “Nothing is permitted anymore” – carries also this beautiful kind of defiance, the feeling of deep injustice about perhaps small things, compared to the global problems of our time. Like back then, as a child. In spite of reason? Perhaps. But certainly a way to feel into that quiet, stubborn resistance within.
